Fishy problem.
by mtbatoon inso ive had this fish tank set up for a year and a bit and the stock has slowly dwindled through one thing or another, the main being a bad water change when the ph dropped and some rather nasty silver tipped tetras who seem to have bullied themselves down to two in number.
current residences are a plecostomous, coolie loach and the two remaining tetras.
on saturday i bought five lady guppies and two flying foxes.

crumpet, you're not trying to encourage your goldfish to commit suicide are you?
The idea is you put him in the freezer not try to tempt him in there!!!

mtbatoon:
You did'nt introduce your new fish into the aquarium straight from the bag did you? The flying fox may be in some kind of shock.
When I had fish, I would first float the bag for a while to get the temperature the same as my tank and then gradually (over at least 1 hour) introduce a little of the aquarium water into the bag to avoid possible sudden changes in water conditions.
Methylene Blue is very good for treating shock in fish as well as being a good antiseptic treatment for your chewed guppies - you might want to give it a try, you'll need to turn off your filter pumps to do this.
ps think you're right on the goldfish swim bladder problem that crumpet was asking about.

THEY MURDERED MY DAUGHTER - WILL YOU HELP ?????
by SHUNNED FATHER intwo leading oncologists both agree that my daughter bethany might be alive today if she had not been fed arsenic.
as you may recall, the wts arranged to take my sick daughter into hiding for two months and payed a doctor to prescribe arsenic.
the doctor ant the wts lawyers convinced bethany that the arsenic treatment could cure her.

Shunned Father, my heart goes out to you. I'm not able to be there in body but certainly will be in spirit.
Is there anything those of us who can't get there can do? I thought maybe a seriously co-ordinated letter sending campaign? Everyone could send a letter so that they get delivered all on the same day (or within a set period, say one week). Either to Brooklyn or our own national HQ's? Just an idea...

Maybe this might help too (although I'm not sure whether its just a problem with my pc):
I copy and paste like JH but sometimes the paste doesn't work, just the cursor moves elsewhere on the page. When this happens, I hit the backspace key (NOT delete key) and the type appears.

opps, wrong button lol here it is
by dedpoet inlast week was the 13th anniversary of my baptism into the borg, and i celebrated it by writing a letter of disassociation to the uk hq.
this has been acknowledged, and i am out of the wt!
the dubs who came round to confirm it commented on the date, so i told them it was quite deliberate, kind of rounds things off nicely, don't you think?

I say give the fish a chance!!
If you do need to send it to the great fishtank in the sky, I know this sounds really awful but it's said the most humane way to kill a fish is to put it in the freezer. It will die in seconds rather than risking the possibility of being slowly poisoned to death in the sewer. (I think freezing is how most universities do it too)

Do you stimulate your "G" spot?
by Etude inim sure that this has been talked about before on this forum, but i have no way of searching.
just in case, id like to bring up the issue from my perspective.
the discovery of the g spot (so called god spot) in the brain is indeed a curious thing.

I'm not good at explaining technical stuff but I'll try and explain how i think it might work.
I don't see the particular part of the brain as being an antenna to God. It's just another part that gets electrically more active by carrying out a particular action. For example, in the same way that feeling fear will stimulate the brain into 'fight or flight' mode, so whatever mode of prayer you engage in will increase activity in another part of the brain. In the nun's case, it was probably contemplative prayer which explains the similarity of results with the eastern religions.
It's generally accepted that 'peaceful, calm' people may have an increased life expectancy, usually due to the reduced strain on the heart etc, so it shouldn't be surprising that to stimulate this 'calm centre' in the brain would have the same effect.
At the same time, I don't believe its there purely to give us an illusion of something bigger out there. It's simply another part of the brain doing its own job.
So, now to my answers to your questions!
Because I believe it is just part of the 'evolutionary process' the only logical answer I could give as to why it is there, (and maybe this answer might apply to everyone, religious or not) is because 'We are fearfully and wonderfully made'. Some things just can't be explained but its all part of what makes us human beings, whether we are created by God or not.
My spirituality did have some influence on me leaving the RC church and going to another (never been JW), I couldn't accept all the teachings and in a way, my sense of 'deep calm' was being disturbed because I knew I was in the wrong place - hope that makes some sense!

I can see loads of 'faces' some human and some like animals - in the tree parts of the pictures - is this what you are asking about? The fact that the pictures are mirror-imaged just doubles the number of faces.
Like vitty, I see faces all over the place. Sometimes they really frighten me but I think it depends on my state of mind.
